You can now make a reservation for the day before your arrival and up until 11 months in advance. The maximum length of stay is 14 consecutive days. Following stays of any length, all members of your camping party and your camping equipment must leave the park for 5 days before you can return. Any reservation with a departure date that is more than 11 months from today cannot be changed or cancelled for 18 days after the reservation was made for an inland campground and 25 days for sites at Hammonasset and Rocky Neck.
: Notice: Construction on a new restroom facility is anticipated to take place during the 2024 camping season. This project will involve active construction and the closure of a section of the west/southwest side of the recreation field for storage of construction supplies and equipment. This closure will also likely include the areas of the recreation field immediately east of the gravel roadway that runs along the west side of the recreation field, in the vicinity of sites 46 through 51, resulting in less space for turning for vehicles exiting these pull-through sites. While we will remain open with all services and amenities available throughout the duration of this project, please be aware that access to and views of the recreation field may be impacted, and visitors should expect some disruptions due to the construction.
Recent evaluations of the Salt Rock Campground swimming pool have identified significant concerns related to its structural integrity. The current swimming pool was installed prior to this campground's incorporation into the Connecticut State Parks system in 2001. While it was decided at the time to continue operating the pool as long as possible, it was also determined that Connecticut State Parks had no intention of remaining in the recreational aquatics business longer than the natural lifespan of the existing facilities and would not be investing significant amounts into facility upgrades or renovations. Unfortunately, the pool and surrounding facilities are no longer repairable, and in its current state, present safety issues that leave us with no option but to permanently close the remaining pool at Salt Rock Campground. This will be effective immediately.
We apologize for any inconvenience and disappointment this may cause you.
